March 8th is International Women’s Day and is celebrated around the world. It is a day to remember women’s history and what women have suffered through to achieve our current rights and liberties. However, there still much more work to do so this day also becomes a reminder of how far we have to go.
Here are some suggestions about how you might celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day:
1. Educate yourself about women’s history and their refusal to accept defeat in spite of the overwhelming odds against them throughout all world history.
2. Take a political stand and donate to the pro-women organization of your choice. Then, get active in local events that support women of all ages.
3. Use social media to raise awareness about women’s issues. Post, re-post and join groups that support women and their unique topics pertaining to women’s history.
4. Let the women in your life know that you support them and you appreciate them. Everyone has a story to tell about uphill struggles. Women’s history month is a good time to bring those struggles to light and talk about them.
