My journey with the world of crystals began as a young girl while living out in the country at the base of Mt. Pisgah, outside Eugene, Oregon. I discovered, by myself, that if I broke open the bigger size of rocks, they sometimes have amazing crystals inside.
By the time I got through collecting them, I had a nice pile of crystals. Of course, I knew nothing about them except that I loved looking at them and collecting them.
When we moved from that location, my parents didn’t see the value of my “rock collection” and refused to bring it with us. How that broke my heart and still bothers me to this day.
So, as a part of my journey through recovery from trauma, I’m going to revisit my childhood passion and learn more about the amazing world of crystals.
Who knows what may come from this journey? But, in the meantime, you get to benefit from my research while I will share all this information with you through this series of articles about crystals.
The answer to that question depends on who you are. If you’re a jeweler, you most likely believe the gemstones are the most beautiful. One thing is for sure, when using them in jewelry, they are the most expensive. On the other hand, if you are an historian, you know that gemstones have been in use since antiquity so they are a way of interpreting historical findings.
From a technological stand, the crystalline material is in use from diamond-tipped drills to silicon chips. Of course, there is also the crystal healing therapist who uses the crystal for amplifying healing energy.
That’s what we will focus on in this series of articles – the healing energy of crystals and how we can use them in our everyday lives. Even though this topic is something that many people consider “New Age” or “flaky”, I hope to show you how it is a viable option in our modern lives.
However, we must remember that this is ancient wisdom, passing down through the millenniums for over 4,000 years. Interestingly, science now validates much of what ancient wisdom teaches, so let’s proceed with a clear mind and an open heart.
There is an invisible force in nature that is not perceivable by some. Some refer to it as God. But, there are many other names for this force. However, for this series, it is the “Universal Life Force.”
For instance, some of us see auras all our lives. All you have to do is look at a painting of a religious figure and you will usually see an “aura” around their head. The aura is a good example of energies that emit from every human – including you. The simple truth is, we all have auras.
I’m not a scientist but even I can understand when quantum physics tells us that everything we perceive as solid matter is 99.9999% empty space filled with energy.
With that, it’s important to understand everything comprises of energy. When that fact sinks in, a whole new world opens up, especially in regard to crystals.
The Chakra Crystals
As an introduction to crystals, I am adding a list of Chakra Crystals for your enjoyment and knowledge. I think this is a great place to start when studying crystals. By balancing your chakras you gift yourself clarity, joy, understanding, and wisdom – just to name a few of the benefits of using crystals in your life.
1st Chakra • The Muladhara • Base Chakra • Red Crystals
The 1st Chakra uses the red crystals for their strength and energy giving qualities. Interestingly, red is a very dense color which perfectly corresponds to the density of the Base Chakra. Surround yourself with red crystals for courage, confidence, and action.
Red crystals include: Ruby • Carnelian • Cuprite • Garnet • Red Jade • Moonstone • Red Jasper • Calcite • Red Sardonyx

2nd Chakra • Swadhisthana • Sacral (Genital) Chakra • Orange Crystals
Going upward on the diagram, we now come to the sacral chakra, second in the order of the chakras. You will find this in the lower abdomen – close to the base chakra. When balancing this chakra expect to find benefits of spirit, mind, and body balance.
Orange is the color of this chakra crystal. Using this crystal will raise your abilities to create and express yourself with warmth. After all, it is the color of the sun. So, to open and activate this chakra, turn to the orange crystals.
Citrine Calcite Healing Crystal
3rd Chakra • Solar Plexus • Manipura • Yellow Crystals
I love yellow crystals. Maybe it’s because it represents the warm yellow sun or the cheerful daffodils. Or, perhaps it’s because both the sun and the metal gold share imperishable qualities of being indestructible and eternal.
Using yellow crystals helps open up the solar plexus. Doing so brings healing to the area of the stomach, spleen, pancreas, and liver!
Third chakra healing stones include Tiger Eye, Yellow Topaz, and Yellow Tourmaline.
Tiger Eye Healing Crystal
4th Chakra • Heart Chakra • Anahata • Green Crystals
This chakra is in the perfect location to be the energy bridge that connects the lower chakras and the upper chakras.
Green fluoride and green jade are two green crystals among many others that are great for use in your rituals to seek emotional balance, and overall well-being. Also, use them for meditation, reiki healing, or for decor in your meditation room.
Jade Crystal Tumble Stones
5th Chakra • Throat Chakra • Vishuddha • Blue Crystals
The 5th Chakra is the Throat Chakra and blue is the color that represents soothing harmonic calmness and improvements to communication skills. It also brings qualities of serenity and relaxation.
Blue crystals include: Angelite • Aquamarine • Blue Aragonite • Blue Apatite • Blue Kyanite • Blue Venturine • Blue Calcite • Blue Lace Agate • Blue Quartz • Blue Tourmaline • Celestite • Chrysocolla • Dumortierite • Heminorphite • Lapis Luzuli • Larimar • Sapphire • Sodalite • Tanzanite • Turquoise.
Aquamarine Crystal Pendant
6th Chakra • Third Eye or Brow • Ajna • Indigo Crystal
The combination of blue and violet create the mysterious, deep hues of the color of indigo. This is also a color to use in sacred or meditation spaces throughout your home. What is really interesting about this color is it’s strong association with the pineal gland in our human brains. Interestingly, the pineal gland affects our mental and psychic abilities which in turn increases our higher mental abilities and intuition.
Purple Fluorite Crystal
7th Chakra • Sahasrara • 🕉 Crown Chakra • Purple Crystal
Purple has long been associated with royalty and strength. However, as depicted in childhood stories, the sorcerers always wore purple! In addition to that, purple assists us in getting in touch with our inner being and thoughts. Clearing and aligning the Seventh Chakra naturally aligns you with the universe along with the strength of character to move into our most desired plans and dreams.
Purple crystals include Amethysts, Amitrine, Sugilite, Lepidolite, and Tanzinite.
