Love’s Demise by Suhail Mirza

Love's Demise by Suhail Mirza

Love’s Demise

Shall we cast our minds back to those first days
When we marvelled at the seemingly infinite ways

That we could give expression to the joy in our heart
No blemish seems to exist when love stories start

Shrouded now in the mists of a fractured memory
Our wounded souls rummage amongst the debris

Of a light once shining yet now engulfed in shadows
Unforeseen often can be Providence’s arrows

In our tears of loss we fear our step into the unknown
Yet surely in self discernment we have also grown

Hoping a Phoenix from the ashes of heartbreak may arise
Bittersweet forever remains the taste of Love’s demise
