PTSD is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. This is a site for people who suffer from or are affected by Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (formerly known as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder – it is not a disorder, it is event related). With this FAQs page, I hope to answer the basic questions you might have in your mind. Nearly everyone will experience a range of reactions after trauma, yet most people recover from initial symptoms naturally. Those who continue to experience problems may be diagnosed with PTSS. People who have PTSS may feel stressed or frightened even when they are not in danger.
Let’s take a few minutes of mindfulness to remember that nothing good is ever accomplished expediently when stress has taken over. Quick and easy relaxation techniques, when kept in regular practice, can change an event from disaster to a non-compulsive order that comes naturally with relaxation.
